An alternative screen layout for the BMS-editor is shown above. All the tools and icons retain exactly the same function as described in section 2.1 ‘Main Window’. The track controls to the left of the tracks may appear differently, however, in order to fit on the display. This will be seen when using the BMS- 8-32 channel editor, or when using a display with a resolution lower than 1024x768 pixels.

1 Main toolbar

This remains as described in section 2.1 ‘Main Window’, items 1-14. If the display resolution used is less than 1024x768 pixels, it may appear on two lines, with some of the icons below the others.

2 Waveform display

The main editor display remains the same in all versions at all screen resolutions, and will expand to fill the space available in the display. All the cursor, fade and profile graph information remains as described in section 2.1 ‘Main Window’, items 21-28.

3 RECORD control

Used to activate recording. See section 6.1.1 ‘Making a recording’ for more information.

4 Track output meter

This meter indicates the contribution the audio from that track is making to the overall mix.

5 SOLO / MUTE controls

These allow a particular track to be isolated when monitoring, or a track to be removed from the output. These controls toggle on/off each time when clicked.

See section 5.1 ‘Playback and level functions’ for more information.

6 VOLUME PROFILE control

This activates the volume profile graph, allowing a volume profile for each track to be created. Clicking this button toggles the graph on and off.

7 Track output fader

This control allows the overall output volume of each track to be altered.

8 PAN PROFILE control

This activates the pan profile graph, allowing a pan profile for each track to be created. Clicking this button toggles the graph on and off..

Note

·         Throughout this manual, diagrams are taken from the BMS editor at a display resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The editing operations described are common to all the editor versions, even if the screen display on the editor you are using does not match exactly with the diagrams in the manual.
