Non-destructive editing
The software allows audio stored on the computer’s hard disc to be manipulated and edited without altering the original source files in any way. Edits can be saved as projects for later retrieval and modification without needing to store multiple copies of the audio files.
Real-time operation
The software has been designed to offer ‘real time operation’, to speed up the editing process and offer maximum flexibility to the user. This means that all operations are carried out instantly, with no processing or ‘render’ delays. This operational style also means that many operations can be carried out at once – altering a crossfade length whilst in loop playback, for example.
From 2 Up to 32 Tracks
You may select the number of tracks needed for your project and projects with a fewer number of tracks than the current may be merged into the current.
A pre defined number of tracks my be set in the inifile (Max 32)
Built in CD ripping
Through the standard import audio function you are also able to select a track from a audio CD which then will be ripped to your hard disc and included in your project.
Any standard Media File, Audio
and Compression format editing
The software edits any file format including MPEG, with no special file format or conversion required.
You can mix different types of audio and compression formats all at the same time in your project.
This makes importing and exporting audio from the editor simple, and allows file transfer to other audio software such as radio playout systems.
Sample rate conversion
The software has a built in sample rate converter which allows audio files of any sample rate to be used together. Similarly the output of the editor can be set to any sample rate. This allows, for example, a 44.1KHz fs file to be crossfaded into a 32KHz fs file, and the result played back at fs 48KHz.
Built in MPEG decoding
Over the
years we found that we could not trust various mpeg decoders in the ACM for one
reason or the other. So we made our own
decoder providing for the very best handling of MPEG audio. There is a
significant difference in the output from our built in decoder compared to many
others.
Drag & Drop
The editor supports Drag and Drop operation from any other standard program like the Windows Explorer, Databases etc..
Waveform display
The software offers a waveform display of the audio being edited, for easy location of edit points and audio cues. It is possible to zoom in on a section of audio down to sample level, if required.
Advanced crossfade capabilities
At edit points, the software allows a number of different crossfade types to be used in order to give the best results whilst editing. The crossfade time can be adjusted to any length, and the system can simultaneously crossfade across all available tracks.
Volume and level control
Individual track and a main output fader give control over playback levels. In addition, volume profiling allows the playback level to be dynamically altered using a volume graph.
Panoration profiling
You may set individual panoration for each clip using the pan envelope profiling function.
Background mix to file
When editing is complete, the finished result can be mixed to a single stereo file, facilitating importing into other software. This process can be performed in the background whilst further editing is performed.
Save to any format
Using the “ACM” audio compression manager of your system you may save to any file format that you have a codec installed for. These typically include MP3 etc.
Cut library
All the audio cuts used during an editing session are stored in a temporary library, for easy access whilst editing.
Varispeed playback
The speed of playback can be altered in the range 20% to 400%.
Flexible editing styles
The software supports many styles of operation for maximum flexibility and operator convenience. Editing can be done in a tradition ‘cut and splice’ way, with audio being divided into sections and then joined together, it can be done using ‘cut, copy, paste’ like a word processor using standard windows shortcuts and functions, and it can be done using an ‘overlap and trim’ style.
Group-and-Move
Since BMS Edit Pro project files (*.bed) handle audio in a very specific way, it is important to understand the way in which the Group function behaves with regards to moving, editing and audio processing.
Realtime “Scrub”
In order to navigate through your audio and easily find the exact point of interest there is a scrub function at a right mouse click.
Automated tool selection
While editing in a Track the Y position of the mouse in the track determines what tool is activated which makes it easier and quicker to operate. (This function may be suspended through the ini file or in the menu.)
Markers
Insert four different types bookmarks into the project file. They are inserted with function keys F9-F12 and are removed with. F9 corresponds to the cyan coloured bookmark, F10 orange, F11 blue and F12 brown. To jump between bookmarks, the TAB button is pressed on the keyboard.
Undo function
The software has 10 levels of undo and redo, so all editing actions can be reversed if the result is not as desired.( May be altered in the inifile)
”The fastest editor
on the planet”
At a huge concert in London Hyde Park the producers where using the BMS
Edit Pro as their editing tool during the concert. They were recording and
editing the sound from the concert in real time, while the band was playing.
Immediately after the concert the
producers were able to sell the first CDs to the audience as they were leaving
the arena.
The producers of the concert did
not see any other solution of software that they were able to use for such a
project. And so they named BMS Edit Pro ”The fastest editor on the planet”.
Easy as ABC
Fun to use, Easy to
learn , Easy to operate
